This 1935 Duesenberg Model JN Convertible Coupe once belonged to “The King of Hollywood,” Clark Gable. Gooding & Company offered the car at auction in Pebble Beach, California this past weekend.

Bidding went as high as $6.4 million but that wasn’t high enough to meet the seller’s predetermined “reserve” price, so this Duesenberg didn’t sell at Pebble Beach in 2012.

It does have a fascinating history repleat with love, intrigue and a very Hollywood ending.
