If retro-futurism ever comes to fruition in the real world, Hyundai is well ahead of the game with their release of the new Hyundai 45EV Concept.

The 45EV Concept has 4-door hatchback styling that pays homage to the Pony Coupe Concept, the first Hyundai that the company introduced back in 1974. The Pony Coupe Concept was designed by car designer Giorgetto Giugiaro who famously designed everything from vehicles like the Iso Grifo and the Maserati Ghibli, to camera bodies for Nikon.  The original Hyundai Pony eventually became Hyundai’s first mass-produced car, selling in Europe, Canada and South Korea, and evolving into a line that included pickups and wagons.  The Pony never made it to the U.S. market.
